Maintaining your furniture is relatively easy if
you follow these guidelines:
1. dust regularly with a soft cloth
2. use a damp cloth to remove marks
3. remove spills or stains promptly with a cloth to
avoid permanent damage
4. never use chemicals, soaps or
household sprays
5. use coasters for sweating glasses
6. use trivets for hot objects
7. rejuvenate the finish with a coat of wax
seasonally or every six months
It is not recommended to use quick household dusting or wax sprays, as many of them contain silicone. These sprays will not protect the wood and will amplify fingerprints and dust. Silicone will also impair further coats of wax as these new layers will not adhere to the slick surface.
In most cases it is only necessary to maintain the tops of your furniture (or any area that wears readily) with wax.
Use only high quality wax. We recommend a superior mix of carnauba and beeswax as they will help prevent staining and water issues. Cheaper quality waxes will ultimately result in less protection and undesirable water rings. We highly recommended the Antiquax brand of products to maintain your furniture.
